On August 23, the Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees voted to call a $198,530,000 bond election for November 8, 2011. Contents of the school bond package were prioritized by a 26-member facility committee consisting of parents, local citizens, business leaders and school staff. Over the course of several meetings, the committee studied a district-wide facility assessment, community survey and district financial information as well as toured existing elementary school campuses. The committee used this information and input from district staff to develop a recommendation for a bond election to address MISD facilities.
